Pia Subias i Pujadas

Art historian

She graduated in art history from the University of Barcelona and specialised in Modernisme. She is the granddaughter of art historian Joan Subias i Galter.
She has worked professionally in the books areas of the Catalan government’s Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals since 2001. She was curator of the Museu de Ceràmica (1986-1987, 1990-1992 and 1995-1996), as well as at Esplugues de Llobregat Town Council (1999-2000).

Her works include Pujol i Bausis: centre productor de ceràmica arquitectònica a Esplugues de Llobregat (1989), Modest de Casademunt (2001) and Can Tinturé: col•lecció de rajola de mostra Salvador Miquel (2003). She worked on the group piece Summa Artis in Madrid in the field of ceramics. She has also studied painter Rafael Durancamps and curated an exhibition on him for the Fundació ”la Caixa” (1990), as well as a monograph (2008). She has worked on a number of exhibitions, including Gaudí parla at the Museu Diocesà in Barcelona in 2006, featuring her scientific studies on “La natura i el retorn a l’origen. Diàleg de la ceràmica en l’obres d’Antoni Gaudí”, together with other specialists. In addition, she contributed the chapter “Del orientalismo a la modernidad” to the Spanish Ministry of Culture’s work La cerámica española y su integración en el arte (2006).
